Set in the magnificent setting of Lake Como you will find enchanting historic residences and villas with their sumptuous gardens that will allow you to live a unique experience.

Here are some tips to help you plan your itinerary.

Villa del Balbianello-Lenno:

Among the historic villas of Lake Como we find the Villa del Balbianello, built by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini in 1787, located in Lenno on the small peninsula of Lavedo overlooking the waters of the center of Lake Como.

Visiting the Villa you can stroll through avenues flanked by statues, romantic glimpses, panoramic terraces up to the eighteenth-century Loggia that crowns the entire complex, offering an amazing panorama.

These peculiar characteristics make this villa one of the most spectacular residences on the Lario.

The villa has hosted historical figures such as Silvio Pellico, Alessandro Manzoni, Giovanni Berchet.

Villa Carlotta-Tremezzo:

Villa Carlotta so called by Duke George II of Saxony for his wife, one of the oldest villas that was built in 1690, famous both for the art collections preserved inside, and for the magnificent 70,000m2 botanical park, in which it is possible to admire azaleas and rhododendrons in over 150 varieties.

The villa is located in Tremezzo in a place of rare beauty, in a panoramic position, facing a breathtaking scenery of the Grigne and the village of Bellagio.

Villa Monastero-Varenna:

The name derives from the fact that in the eleventh century the villa housed a female convent, of Cistercian foundation dedicated to the Virgin Mary, but it was already built in the nineteenth century. The building is level with the lake water.

The complex is made up of the villa itself, now transformed into a museum and is also home to an internationally known convention centre, and the splendid 2km botanical garden that surrounds it.

Inside the botanical garden there are several species of rare plants.

Vezio-Varenna Castle:

The Casetello di Vezio Perledo in Varenna is certainly one of the most beautiful points from which to admire Lake Como, in all its magnificence.

Ancient military outpost erected to defend and control the lake by the Lombard queen Teodolinda, located in a very strategic military and commercial location which overlooks the entire center of Lake Como. The Castle protected the town of Varenna and its inhabitants in the frequent wars and looting that occurred throughout the Middle Ages. Completely immersed in the greenery of important olive groves and a Mediterranean garden, the Castello di Vezio in Perledo di Varenna hosts an exhibition on the Lariosaurus inside the tower. With its partially open underground passages, the botanical garden, the statues scattered throughout the garden, the "ghosts" and birds of prey in the falconry centre, the castle merges, in a context of unparalleled natural beauty, with art, history and the culture of the area.

Villa Melzi-Bellagio:

Built at the beginning of the 19th century under commission of the vice president of the republic Francesco Melzi d'Eril, it is considered one of the best examples of neoclassical style.

Located in Bellagio, it stands out thanks to its white facades that contrast with the bright green that surrounds it.

From its monumental staircase and panoramic terrace adorned with statues of lions you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Como.

Inside you can admire highly prized works of art and frescoed halls, as well as a family chapel, a greenhouse, some Egyptian statues, and a gondola (the latter both original), commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte.

In the garden there are several species of rare plants, giant rhododendrons, secular trees, woods of azaleas and hedges of camellias.
